Abstract

The paper describes the blended learning setting behind two large lectures on "Information Management" and "Management Support Systems". The classes were developed for "RuhrCampusOnline," an online campus of three cooperating German universities in the Metropolis Ruhr. First, RuhrCampusOnline, the classes and the blended learning setting will be introduced. The paper then focuses on an extra credit program that was developed to be an important element of the blended learning setting, promoting flexible learning opportunities, interactive online activities and continuous learning processes. Finally, the program’s effects as well as the success of the whole blended learning setting will be discussed based on Blackboard statistics and student evaluation results.
